Welcome to my collection of images of the Venus Transit of 2012. Temperatures here in Austin were in the high 90s with rain and clouds in the forecast so I did not pay much attention to the upcoming transit until I realized that there might be some hope of relatively clear skies. I quickly rolled out my imaging setup: Celestron CGE 1400 mount, Takahashi FS-102, Coronado 90 H-alpha filter, Lumenera Infinity 2-1M camera, put my head under a dark towel to view a live image of the sun on my laptop screen, and with great disappointment, witnessed multiple, dark vertical lines in my image of the sun: thermal noise. I quickly produced a cold pack from the freezer and tied it to my camera with a towel...viola...no noise. Below you can see the images I managed to capture from 10, 30 second avi video clips, which were processed in Registax 6 and finished in Photoshop CS5. Hope you enjoy the images. Clear Skies!
